ahearo – The digital audio kiosk for a stress-free everyday life

To start the new year, we would like to introduce you to the startup ahearo. We met the young company at the digital business incubator Einstein1 at the campus of HAW Hof.

ahearo is the digital audio kiosk for quality journalism. Founded by Johannes Garbarek, the company is headquartered at Einstein1 in Hof in Upper Franconia, next door to one of our NEDGEX offices.

The medium audio

More than 20 million people in Germany use the range of spoken contributions on the Internet, e.g. audio books or podcasts. Whether on the way to work, at home or during leisure time, for entertainment or for their own education. Media use has changed. In the last three years, magazine reading among the German population has continued to decline.

In contrast, the use of audio content has increased extremely. Audio formats are seen as the future of reading, because when we listen, we acquire knowledge efficiently and quite incidentally.

So why not also listen to magazines?

The role that audio can play for a person was also noticed by Johannes, the founder of ahearo, whose idea was the result of a long process. He himself was never the best reader. Starting in elementary school, he struggled with a reading and spelling disability. Even as a child, he quickly realized that audio plays were more useful to him than magazines. Auditory learning has accompanied him on his entire journey over the past years and has had a lasting influence on the development of his start-up. Thus, the vision “to make content easily audible for a broad target group” was born.

How to make your everyday life easier?

You hardly have time for reading either? With ahearo, you can conveniently listen to the best from magazines, journals and online editorial departments while you’re driving, doing housework, exercising or simply enjoying nature. The articles are read to you by professional audio book speakers. This also benefits almost 12 million people who rely on audio media, e.g. people with dyslexia and the visually impaired.
