Mitte November machte sich das NEDGEX-Team – bestehend aus Christian Baier , Felix Schachi, Teresa Geß und Ngan Truong – auf den Weg nach Singapur, dem Innovationshub Asiens. Unser Ziel für diese Woche war es, mit NETZSCH-Kollegen aus ganz Asien und dem Startup-Ökosystem ins Gespräch zu kommen, um die Erweiterung unserer Aktivitäten in der Region zu konkretisieren.
NEDGEX Innovation Ecosystem Kickoff
Mit dem offiziellen Start des NEDGEX Innovation Ecosystems brachte das Team Kollegen aus ganz Asien zusammen. Die Kraft direkter Zusammenarbeit wurde nicht nur als Motor für neuen Ideen deutlich, sondern auch als treibende Kraft für langfristige Verbindungen. Ein wichtiger Impuls, den wir unseren Kollegen mitgeben konnten, war es, vor dem Start neuer Ventures, zuerst das Kundenproblem zu identifizieren, bevor man in die konkrete Lösung geht.

Fokusbereiche im Innovationsökosystem Singapur
Singapurs Innovationsökosystem wächst in einer Kultur der Zusammenarbeit, in der hochmoderne Technologien, zukunftsweisende Maßnahmen und der Drang nach Exzellenz zusammenkommen, um visionären Ideen zum globalen Durchbruch zu verhelfen. Gelegen im Herzen Asiens, bietet Singapur nicht nur einen idealen Nährboden für Innovationen, sondern auch einen vielversprechenden Standort für die Expansion in dieser dynamischen Region.
Während der Woche haben wir das volle Potenzial von Singapurs lebendigem Startup-Ökosystem ausgelotet, mit einem klaren Fokus auf Schlüsselbereiche der Innovation, die im Einklang mit NETZSCH S27 stehen. Dabei haben wir erkannt, dass Singapur besonders in den folgenden Bereichen Potenzial bietet:
- Food Manufacturing & Alternative Proteins: Ein schnell wachsendes Feld mit enormem Potenzial für nachhaltige Ernährungssysteme.
- Life Sciences & Pharma: Biotechnologie und bildgebende Technologien mit datengestützten Methoden und KI.
- Environmental Sustainability & Circular Economy: Spitzentechnologien in den Bereichen grüne Energie (Wasserstoff, Erneuerbare), Abfallmanagement (einschließlich Abwasser, feuchte Abfälle und Batterierecycling) sowie Mikroplastiktrennung.
- Advanced Materials: Innovationen in Materialanalytik, neuen Polymeren und Batterietechnologie sowie Recycling.
- Industrial IoT & Manufacturing Solutions: Predictive Maintenance und IoT-Lösungen, Data Science und maschinelles Lernen sowie additive Fertigung.

Wichtige Erkenntnisse aus der Woche
Im Zentrum unseres Besuches stand die Idee, dass Innovation bei den Menschen beginnt. Durch den Austausch mit NETZSCH-Mitarbeitern, lokalen Startups und Forschungszentren bauen wir ein starkes Netzwerk auf, dass uns dabei hilft, Ideen und Projekte voranzutreiben.
- Ein Highlight war der Besuch eines Startups, das uns vielversprechende neue Perspektiven für mögliche Venture-Investitionen eröffnete. Dies könnte eine Schlüsselrolle dabei spielen, die Präsenz von NETZSCH in Asien weiter auszubauen. Des Weiteren haben die Verbindungen, die wir in dieser Woche zu Risikokapitalgebern, Innovatoren und Forschungszentren geknüpft haben, unsere Position im lebendigen Innovationsumfeld der Region nachhaltig gestärkt.
- Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt war das Venture Building, bei dem wir Einblicke in bislang ungelöste Kundenprobleme und unerschlossene Märkte gewinnen konnten. So bestehen beispielsweise in verschiedenen Bergbauprozessen weiterhin ungelöste Kundenprobleme, während der australische und vietnamesische Markt für das Venture-Projekt NXUS Brew neue Chancen bietet.

NEDGEX Goes Asia: Expanding Horizons and Fostering Innovation
Last week, the NEDGEX team, Christian Baier , Felix Schachi, Teresa Geß and Ngan Truong headed to Singapore, an epicentre of innovation. Our goal for this week was to connect with NETZSCH colleagues from all over Asia as well as with the startup ecosystem and define our approach to the expansion of our activities in the region.
NEDGEX Innovation Ecosystem Kickoff
As a part of the event, the NEDGEX kicked off an Innovation Ecosystem, bringing together our NETZSCH colleagues from across Asia in person. We truly recognised the power of a close exchange which can not only lead to the next waves of ideas but also to long-lasting connections. Identifying the customer problem before going into the solution was one of our key messages about how to start successful ventures.

During the week, we explored the full potential of Singapore’s dynamic startup ecosystem, focusing on key areas of innovation that align with NETZSCH S27. We found that Singapore is especially notable in the following areas:

Key Takeaways from the Week
- At the heart of all our efforts was the idea that innovation begins with people. By connecting with NETZSCH employees, local startups, and research hubs, we built a strong network of collaborators ready to drive change.
- One standout moment was a visit to a particularly promising startup, which opened the door to potential venture investment opportunities. This startup could play a crucial role in expanding NETZSCH’s footprint in Asia. The connections made this week with Venture Capitalists, innovators, and research hubs were invaluable—strengthening our position in the region’s vibrant innovation landscape.
- Venture building also took centre stage as we gathered insights into unsolved customer problems and identified untapped markets. For instance, various mining processes bear ongoing customer issues and for the venture project NXUS Brew, the Australian and Vietnamese market presents new opportunities.
