Warum sind Innovationslabore von so hoher Bedeutung für Unternehmen? Diesem Thema widmete sich die Stabsabteilung Entrepreneurship und Innovation der Universität Bayreuth. Die Stabsabteilung hat ein Whitepaper veröffentlicht, welches die Relevanz von Innovationslaboren für oberfränkische Unternehmen erläutert. NEDGEX sowie vier weitere Innovationslabore werden in dem Whitepaper beispielhaft für betriebliche Innovationslabore in Oberfranken vorgestellt. Im Vordergrund stehen die jeweiligen Herausforderungen, die Motivation zur Einrichtung sowie die Erfolgsfaktoren dieser Einheiten.
Innovationsfähigkeit und -tätigkeit sind für Unternehmen aller Branchen und Größen von zentraler Bedeutung, um auf dem Markt dauerhaft bestehen zu können. In vielen Branchen reicht die Weiterentwicklung eines Produkts nicht mehr aus, um künftig erfolgreich zu bleiben. Es müssen komplett neue Wege, Ideen, Strukturen gefunden werden.
Doch diese besondere Herausforderung ist neben dem Tagesgeschäft oft nur schwer umsetzbar. „In einem betrieblichen Innovationslabor werden die Verpflichtungen des Tagesgeschäfts ausgesetzt: Innovationslabore schaffen einen geschützten Raum und eine kollaborative Arbeitsumgebung, um kreatives Denken jenseits der üblichen Grenzen zu ermöglichen“, erläutert Dr. Petra Beermann, Leiterin der Stabsabteilung Entrepreneurship und Innovation. „Hierarchiefreiheit, Interdisziplinarität, multidimensional-flexibles Denken und Fehlertoleranz prägen diese Innovationslabore. So werden sie zu Keimzellen und Kraftzentren für zukunftsweisende Innovationen“, sagt Beermann, „das brauchen auch und gerade KMUs in Oberfranken“.

Why are innovation labs so important for companies?
Why are innovation labs of such high importance for companies? The staff department Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the University of Bayreuth was dedicated to this topic. The staff department has published a white paper explaining the relevance of innovation laboratories for Upper Franconian companies. Five innovation labs are presented in the whitepaper as examples of corporate innovation labs in Upper Franconia. In the foreground are the respective challenges, the motivation for setting up these units and the success factors of these units.
Innovative ability and activity are of central importance for companies of all industries and sizes in order to survive in the market in the long term. In many industries, the further development of a product is no longer sufficient to remain successful in the future. Completely new ways, ideas and structures must be found.
However, this particular challenge is often difficult to implement in addition to the daily business. “In an operational innovation laboratory, the obligations of daily business are suspended: Innovation labs create a protected space and a collaborative working environment to enable creative thinking beyond the usual boundaries,” explains Dr. Petra Beermann, head of the staff department Entrepreneurship and Innovation. “Freedom of hierarchy, interdisciplinarity, multidimensional-flexible thinking and fault tolerance characterize these innovation labs. They thus become germ cells and power centers for future-oriented innovations”, says Beermann, “this is what SMEs in Upper Franconia also and especially need”.
