Sachsen hat sich zu einem Brennpunkt für High-Tech-Unternehmen entwickelt, die dort von der hervorragenden Forschungsinfrastruktur und einer wachsenden Innovationslandschaft profitieren.
Die sächsische Start-up-Szene gilt als innovativ, mutig und dynamisch. Dank zwei Digital-Hubs, einer der größten Informatik-Fakultäten Deutschlands und Standorte renommierter Global Player, werden dort die Grundlagen für aktuelle Themen wie Digitalisierung, IoT, autonomes Fahren etc. geschaffen. Dabei gibt es in der gesamten Region eine Vielzahl von Forschungs- und Entwicklungszentren, die Innovationen in Bereichen wie Halbleiterproduktion, Mikroelektronik, Nanotechnologie und IoT vorantreiben.
Des Weiteren finden in Sachsen die meisten Ideen- und Gründungswettbewerbe Deutschlands statt. Vor allem die Stadt Dresden verfügt über eine boomende Industrie und High-Tech-Szene. Jeder zweite europäische Chip kommt aus Dresden, weshalb die Stadt zu einem der größten und modernsten Halbleiterstandorten Europas zählt. Neben der Halbleiterindustrie sind auch die weltbekannten Automobilhersteller wie Porsche, BMW und VW mit Produktionsstätten in Sachsen stark vertreten.
Vom 04.12. bis 06.12.2023 machten sich die Geschäftsführer von NETZSCH und NEDGEX auf den Weg in diese aufstrebende Region, um die beeindruckenden Möglichkeiten von “Silicon Saxony” direkt vor Ort zu erleben. Organisiert wurde der Besuch von Toni Drescher und Anne Loos vom INC Innovation Center, welches ein globaler One-Stop-Shop für technologiegetriebene Innovation ist.
Am Dienstag und Mittwoch erhielten die Teilnehmer von führenden Personen der Branche wie Prof. Andreas Pinkwart (Professor für Innovations- und Technologiemanagement, TU Dresden, ehemaliger Ministerpräsident NRW), Prof. Alexander Michaelis (Institutsleiter, Fraunhofer IKTS), Prof. Harald Kuhn (Institutsleiter, Fraunhofer ENAS), Prof. Peter Schneider (Institutsteilleiter, Fraunhofer IIS/EAS), Prof. Thomas von Unwerth (Vorstandsvorsitzender, HZwo e.V.), Alexander Tietze (Head of HighTech Startbahn Industries) und Michael Arnold (Geschäftsführer, Peer Group) interessante und aktuelle Informationen aus erster Hand. Außerdem hatten Start-ups in Zusammenarbeit mit der HighTech Startbahn die Möglichkeit, im Rahmen kurzer Pitches Interesse zu wecken und die Teilnehmer auf sie aufmerksam zu machen. Des Weiteren stand ein Besuch des INC Offices und des Fraunhofer IKTS auf dem Programm.
Die TechTour in diese aufstrebende Region hat dazu beigetragen, die Möglichkeiten und Potenziale des „Silicon Saxony“ zu erkennen, das Netzwerk zu erweitern und die Weichen für weitere zukünftige Partnerschaften und Kooperationen zu stellen.

Expansion of the NETZSCH Innovation Ecosystem with a visit to “Silicon Saxony”
Saxony has developed into a hotspot for high-tech companies, which benefit from the excellent research infrastructure and a growing innovation landscape. Saxony’s start-up scene is considered innovative, courageous and dynamic. Thanks to two digital hubs, one of the largest computer science faculties in Germany and the locations of well-known global players, the foundations for current topics such as digitalization, IoT, autonomous driving, etc. are being created here. There are numerous research and development centers throughout the region that drive innovation in areas such as semiconductor production, microelectronics, nanotechnology and IoT.
Furthermore, Saxony is home to the largest number of ideas and start-up competitions in Germany. The city of Dresden in particular has a booming industry and high-tech scene. Every second European chip comes from Dresden, which is why the city is one of the largest and most modern semiconductor locations in Europe. In addition to the semiconductor industry, world-famous car manufacturers such as Porsche, BMW and VW are also strongly represented with production facilities in Saxony.

From December 4th to December 6th, 2023, the managing directors of NETZSCH and NEDGEX made their way to this up-and-coming region to experience the impressive opportunities of “Silicon Saxony” first-hand. The visit was organized by Toni Drescher and Anne Loos from the INC Innovation Center, which is a global one-stop-shop for technology-driven innovation.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the participants received presentations from leading figures in the industry such as Prof. Andreas Pinkwart (Professor of Innovation and Technology Management, TU Dresden, former Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia), Prof. Alexander Michaelis (Institute Director, Fraunhofer IKTS), Prof. Harald Kuhn (Institute Director, Fraunhofer IKTS) and Prof. Drescher. Harald Kuhn (Institute Director, Fraunhofer ENAS), Prof. Peter Schneider (Institute Director, Fraunhofer IIS/EAS), Prof. Thomas von Unwerth (Chairman of the Board, HZwo e.V.), Alexander Tietze (Head of HighTech Startbahn Industries) and Michael Arnold (Managing Director, Peer Group) provided interesting and up-to-date first-hand information. In cooperation with the HighTech Startbahn, start-ups also had the opportunity to arouse interest and draw the participants’ attention to them with short pitches. The program also included a visit to the INC Office and Fraunhofer IKTS.
The TechTour to this upcoming region has helped to recognize the opportunities and potential of “Silicon Saxony”, to expand the network and to set the course for further future partnerships and cooperations.
