To give you a better understanding of what we do every day at NEDGEX, we would like to introduce you to the team.

Our team consists of many creative minds who see challenges as opportunities and like to make things happen.

One of them is Luis.
Luis Sörensen has been working as a Innovation Architect since May this year. Unfortunately, we won‘t see him regularly in Selb, as he is working in Florianópolis (Brazil).

How did you come to NEDGEX?

Luis: Actually, I was recruited by a headhunter on LinkedIn. Before working for NEDGEX, I used to work at ACATE – Catarinense Association of Technology, where I was responsible for their startup development program. One day, a headhunter messaged me on LinkedIn, and after a few interviews and tests, I officially became a NEDGEX employee on May 22nd, 2023.
NEDGEX convinced me with their culture and bold goals.

What are your specific responsibilities on the team?

Luis: I’m an Innovation Architect, so I guide internal projects through our methodology, and I also look for external partners that can help us accelerate innovation.

What does a typical working day look like for you?

Luis: Every day is different. I’m involved in many projects, so I try to focus each period of the day on one group of activities for a single project. I usually have 1 to 2 hours a day reserved for meetings, and the rest of the time I use to prepare workshops, do technical research, and handle some operational tasks.

What is different about NEDGEX compared to other innovation units?

Luis: The freedom to coach internal projects not only through the methodology but also based on your experiences and personal knowledge. It is a safe space for making mistakes, and what Nedgex values the most is the learning process – without it, there is no innovation.

What has NEDGEX given you so far?

Luis: NEDGEX has given me the opportunity to work with an international team and learn from their experiences. Now I have a solid understanding of how to validate ideas and use a customer-centric approach when developing new solutions for the market.

What tip do you have for someone who wants to apply to NEDGEX?

Luis: Cultural fit is the game-changer! You don’t have to know everything to work at NEDGEX, but if you are willing to learn new things and ask for help when needed, then you’re going to be successful in the team.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Luis: Doing innovation is exciting in itself, but I really like the independence I have to make decisions and deal with the consequences – either good or bad ones.

What are the biggest challenges of working within the Innovation Game?

Luis: The biggest challenge, I would say, is to convince people to trust the innovation process and change their mentality to a customer-centric approach. We usually have projects with Netzsch engineers who are used to the traditional way of developing new solutions – which works and is great but can lead to a wrong path very slowly. So, changing the mindset, failing fast, and starting to search for things that are real painkillers is my main difficulty, I would say.

Thank you Luis Sörensen!
